Panch Pokhari Bhairab Kund trekking is one of the best wilderness newly open trekking routes that goes through north eastern part of Kathmandu. This trek will take you to the heart of the sacred lakes, which are related to the god Shiva and are also very sacred for Buddhist.

Panch Pokhari  Bhairab Kund trekking is designed to meet your desire for the unspoiled off-the-beaten-track trek. This trek goes in the buffer Zone between Rolwaling and Langtang

region. The name Panch Pokhari is derived from Nepali and means "five Lakes." There are five lakes around the Panch Pokhari lakes, and the word Bhairab Kunda means: Bhairab is the name of the Hindu god Shiva when he is in a destructive stage/Posture, and Kunda means Lake. The word Kunda is derived from Sanskrit.

There used to be a fair on the August full moon days around the Bhairab Kunda lake and the Panch pokhari lake. The Hindus and Buddhist from nearby areas and some devotees from south Asia come here for pilgrim during that time. This trek goes in the Lap of Mt Dorje Lakpa, Langtang Lirung, Sisa-Pangma, Bhairab Takura, Jugal Himal. This trek offers you the spectacular view of Himalaya as well as we can explore Tamang culture the People who are living around Kathmandu and mostly north and north east part of Kathmandu. Tamang means horse trader in Tibetean. It is believed that Tamang people have migrated from Tibet to Nepal in the past some centuries ageo. Tamang people have their own culture, custom, tradition, language and way of Living.

This trek goes through some remote terrain and its recently build trail so, we don’t have Lodges and tea houses over there. We will operate this trek as a tent camping trek, and the meals are prepared by our Cook. We will have some western and some Local Nepali food for the meals during the trek. Our cook is a highly trained staff on the related field thus we get excellent food during the trek.

Panch Pokhari Bhairab Kund trekking is the combination of all your desires to explore remote, wilderness, unspoiled, landscape, People and Himalaya.

Trek Highlights

Trek Highlights

Holy mountain lakes in the high Alps. You can reach five glacial lakes around 4,100 m. Hindus and Buddhists both call the sites sacred.

From the footpath you get wide, clear views. As you move uphill, you look toward Langtang, Jugal, Ganesh Himal, and Rolwaling.

Choose a calmer road. Skip Nepal’s busiest famous trails. On these paths there are fewer people, and the scenery feels more wild.

Expect lots of plants and small animals. The trail runs through rhododendron shrubs, pine forest, and oak trees. You may notice many types of Himalayan wildlife.

You also see local life up close. The route passes Tamang and Sherpa villages. You can observe daily work, local festivals, and how families greet guests.

One stop is Bhairab Kund. It is a sacred pond tied to Lord Shiva. Visitors often come during big festival times.

There is some uphill work, yet it is not too hard. The trek is a moderate hike. You will go past 4,000 m, and most hikers manage it.
