Trek Overview

Trek Overview

Lower Solukhumbu Eco Trek is a community-based eco trail that is one of the best newly developed trekking trails, which goes through the lower elevation of Solukhumbu and its neighboring district. This journey deals with People, culture, customs, traditions, landscape, and way of living in the lap of the world's tallest mountain, Mt Everest. This trek would be the best option who are willing to explore the lower-elevation territory around the Khumbu Everest Himalaya. During the journey, we can witness Sherpa, Magar, Rai, and other caste people living in harmony, following their own rituals and religion. This trek is suitable for all age groups because it goes through lower elevation and the trail difficulty is less.

Lower Solukhumbu Eco trek starts at Halesi Khotang at 1355 m elevation, and Halesi is one of the famous Hindu temples in Nepal. The next day, after visiting the temple, the trail goes towards Lamidanda, where we can see a small airfield. We stay overnight at Lamidanda, which seems like a hill station. On a clear day, we can see good mountain views from Lamidanda. The Next day, the trail goes downhill and crosses the river and goes uphill towards the village of Necha. Necha is one of the famous villages in Solukhumbu district where Sherpa, Magar, Rai, Brahmin & Dalit people are living in harmony and prosperity. They are following their own religion and rituals; here we can see the majority of people following both Buddhism & Hinduism. The next day after we leave Necha, our trek heads towards Kangel at 1700 m, where we can see another small airfield. The way of building the houses is really unique and awesome here in Kangel village. The houses built here are mostly cold-resistant inside, which is very essential for winter. After Kangel, the trail heads towards Jha-Sa, which is 2690 m above sea level, where we can see the changing flora and fauna, people, and way of living because here at this altitude it starts getting colder and the landscape seems more alpine. The next day we head towards Phaplu via Salleri, which is the district headquarters. We can see many people from nearby villages coming here for shopping and for administrative work. As we continue further, we can reach our destination, Phaplu, which is a small town where there is a small airfield. There are bunches of hotels, lodges, restaurants & bars. The next day, we take a 40Min flight from here to Kathmandu.

Lower Solukhumbu Eco Trek is a mixed-flavored journey that traverses through the Pilgrimage town of Halesi in Khotan district, and it goes through different terrain of Solukhumbu district where we can see Sherpa, Rai, Magar, Brahmin, Chhetri & Dalit people with their enriched culture and tradition. This trek would be the best choice if you are unable to do physically strenuous and high-altitude trekking.

Consider the Lower Solukhumbu Eco Trek if you want a real taste of Himalayan life without the constant crowds. The path feels calmer than the well-known Everest Base Camp route. You will walk on easy trails, meet friendly Sherpa hosts, and see impressive views. The trip also focuses on eco care, which helps local communities. In the end, you get a more natural, low-impact mountain experience.
