On the other hand, Boudhanath is the largest stupa in the world, dominating the skyline of Buddhist stupas. Hence, both the stupas are highly visited destinations and are crowded most of the time.
Tours to Nepal and Bhutan then continue to the land of the thunder dragon. This mysterious country has something to offer as you land in the lush green Paro Valley. Here in Bhutan, you will explore Thimpu, Punakha, Gangtey, and Paro. In these destinations, you will visit monuments, monasteries, architecture, hidden valleys, and the Tiger's Nest. Tiger's Nest, also known as Paro Taktsang, is the major destination in Bhutan. With an altitude of 3,120m, the Tiger's Nest lies at the cliffside of upper Paro, where you have to climb for 4 to 5 hours to reach this monastery.
After momentum visit to Bhutan, you will arrive in Kathmandu and continue. Lumbini is the birthplace of Gautam Buddha, which is one of the major Buddhist pilgrimage sites all over the world. There you will explore the Maya Devi temple, Sal tree, sacred pond, Ashoka pillar, Lumbini museum, Theravada monastic zone, and Tilaurakot. No wonder Lumbini is a World Heritage Site and the first heaven on Earth.
Swayambhunath: Go to the Monkey Temple. It sits on a hill and has an old stupa. From there you can see a wide view. You will also spot monkeys that seem to roam freely.
Boudhanath: Visit the biggest stupa in the world. This place is a UNESCO site. It is also a lively spot for Tibetan Buddhist life. Many people come for prayer and pilgrimage.
Lumbini: See the place linked to Buddha’s birth. Here you can find old monasteries. There are calm meditation gardens too. For Buddhists, this area holds deep meaning.
Theravada Monastic Zone: Walk around Lumbini’s quiet monastic area. You will notice different styles of Buddhist buildings. These styles reflect traditions from different countries.
Bhutan Exploration: Spend time in Bhutan’s clean and green mountain land. Meet local people in small Himalayan towns. You will also hear about Gross National Happiness.
Tiger’s Nest: Hike up to Paro Taktsang Monastery. It is at about 3,120 meters. The site looks like it rests on a steep, sacred cliff.
