Trek Overview

Trek Overview

The Kathmandu 2-day trek is an incredible journey that offers you an amazing opportunity to explore the countryside near Kathmandu. As you know, Kathmandu is not only the political capital; it is also the cultural and historical capital. Indeed it is; Kathmandu is known as the city of temples, where you can find deities at every step; you can find a shrine in every corner of the street. Historically, the whole city of Kathmandu used to be three kingdoms, Kantipur, Patan, and Bhaktapur, and was very prosperous while temples and monuments were built at that time. It was the medieval era when culture, art, and literature were flourishing, which is what we call the golden era of Nepali art and culture. You can still see most of the monuments well protected around Kathmandu. Kathmandu city is surrounded by lush green hills on all sides, and the countryside is truly worth visiting. The Kathmandu 2-day trek is a journey that bestows nature and culture near Kathmandu.

The Kathmandu 2-day trek starts at Sundarijal, which is a 1-hour drive from Kathmandu. Then we enter Shivapuri National Park, which is famous for flora and fauna. After entering the sanctuary, the trek goes through a forest that later reaches the village called Mulkharka (1560 m), and the trail goes deep into the sanctuary where we get to listen to the chirping song of the birds. This sanctuary is very famous for bird watching, and some animals, such as musk deer, cat tigers, wild boar, weasels, porcupines, honey badgers, and pangolins, can be seen during the trek. We stop first overnight at Chisapani 2180 m, which is famous for a panoramic view of the Himalaya, including the Langtang region, the Rolwaling region, the Ganesh Himal region, and the Everest region. The next day, the trek goes to Nagarkot 2190 m through the national park forest. On the way, we pass through several villages where we can see multicultural people doing their household, celebrating their culture. Sunset view of the Himalayas from Nagarkot, including Mount Everest.

You will be picked up by car at Nagarkot at the end of the day when you reach there. Nagarkot is one of the major hill stations near Kathmandu city, famous for the panoramic Himalayan view.
