The Chepang village tour has short and newly developed trekking trails, which are just 80 km away from Kathmandu. The trail is a combination of cultural and sightseeing experiences. One can get a glimpse of the Chepang’s lifestyle and see the view of Manaslu, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and the Ganesh Himal. The treks pass through a variety of landscapes and dense forests. With this trek, one can combine it with rafting as well as a jungle safari. You will be introduced to the inhabitants by means of their songs, dances, hospitality, and craftsmanship; they produce, among others, wine and honey. This trekking, you will know a great deal more about the lives of these isolated jungle people.
The Chitwan Chepang Hill Trail begins at Hugdi, between Mugling and Krishna Vhir in the Dhading district, and ends in Shaktikhor. If one starts from Chitwan National Park. The trail can be started from Shaktikhor, ending at Hugdi. Chepang culture is one of the most unique and ethnic cultures in Nepal. They have their own language, leading a nomadic life, and their primary lifestyle is hunting, foraging for wild roots, fishing, and traditional farming near jungles. A Praja Pande (faith healer) might be an interesting figure for tourists to be introduced to.
Step into authentic cultural immersion—go walk through a real Chepang village, and kind of see centuries old practices up close, as if you are there.
Forest lifestyle experience, where you can learn how the Chepang people hunt forage, and keep going in Nepal’s woodlands.
Handcraft & skills demonstration, you’ll watch local artisans work with careful hands as they make traditional tools, baskets, and little ornaments too.
Then there’s the breathtaking Himalayan scenery, trek across lush green hills with panoramic views, of Nepal’s great mountains, really amazing.
And because it’s responsible and community based tourism, your visit directly backs the Chepang community and also helps preserve their special cultural legacy.
