Trek Overview

Trek Overview

Dhampus Lowang homestay trek is a journey to the lap of the Annapurna foothills, where you will walk through lush green rhododendron forest and thousands of orchids sticking on the trees.

Dhampus Lowang homestay trek is the best opportunity to explore the life and landscape around Pokhara valley. During this trekking we will see the tea garden at the lap of Mt Fishtail (6997 m). Typical Gurung village and the warm hospitality offered by the local people. During this trek, we will traverse several villages where we can see the local people doing their daily household work.
The major indigenous people living here are Gurung, Magars, Brahmins, Chhetris, and Dalits. We will explore their custom, culture, language, tradition, and way of life during the trekking. We will start our trip from Kathmandu to Pokhara, where we will stay overnight, and the next day we will head towards Lowang village by four-wheel jeep. This is 1.45 hrs jeep drive from Pokhara.

Dhampus Lowang homestay trek: We will stay our first night in a homestay in Lowang village, and we have more villages to visit around. The next village will be Dhampus, where we will stay at a homestay. The next morning we will see sunrise and panoramic mountain views from Dhampus. Visit the village and having breakfast after that, we will head towards another iconic village, Astam.

Dhampus Lowang homestay trek: Another attraction is Astam village. It is a village located on the top of a hillock. We can see Machhapuchhre Mt Fishtail just in front of this village. Dhampus village is mostly inhabited by Brahmin, Chhetri & Gurung people. We will stay in a local homestay in this village. From this village, we can see Sarangkot in the south, Mt Fishtail straight in the north, and we can see more mountains from the Annapurna region.

Next, you will come to Phewa Lake. You can walk around the shore for a while. After that, take a quiet boat ride. Look at how the peaks reflect in the water.

You can catch the sunrise from Dhampus and Astam. If you leave early, the Himalayas begin to look like they are lit from inside.

From good lookout spots, you may see Mt Fishtail quite near. You can also notice Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Annapurna II, and Lamjung Himal.

Along the way, you will spend time with Gurung locals. They share daily life and answer questions. Their customs and traditions feel real, and their welcome sticks with you.

You will walk across terraced fields. These stepped farms show how people manage the hills. Behind the fields, the mountain views open up wide.

On the trail, watch for small streams, springs, and falls. Water shows up in a few places. It makes the route feel busy and fresh.

In some sections, rhododendron bushes appear. Wild orchids can show up too. The colors change as you move through the trek.

You might spot a few wild animals. You should also see many kinds of birds around the forest parts.
