Porters are the indispensable part of Trekking and Mountaineering activity in Nepal. If there is no help of porters anyone can’t enjoy lifetime trekking and mountaineering experience. Porters carry baggage of trekkers up and down mountain trails. Tragically most of the porters are come from poor family. They are uneducated. Often whole family is depending on them. That’s why they try to save the money that they earned from trekking economizing to fulfill their basic needs like trekking shoes, warm jackets, sun glasses, altitude medicines etc. So, a number of porters they suffer from altitude sickness and cold related illness. Some of them even die due to those reasons.
As Himalayan Smile Treks and Adventures is responsible trek organizer, we provide standard remuneration to all our porters. In addition to it we allocate certain percentage of profit from every trip for the welfare of porters. We use that fund buying basic trekking equipments and distributing to local porters. We do this job every January and June coordinating with Porters’ Progress Nepal, a nonprofit organization working to protect the interest and livelihood of porters. Besides them we ourselves have launched clothing collection campaign from tourists. Any trekker after finishing their trek if interested to give their trekking cloths as well as equipments to mountain workers they can provide them to the staff of our clothing bank. We distribute them to the porters.

HECAC – Volunteer Opportunities
About Charity Nepal School
CHARITY NEPAL SCHOOL was established in 1998 by Mrs Renuka Dhouju Shrestha who is an experienced social worker/teacher. She holds the title of Founder-Principal at the school. Given her multiple roles, Mrs Shrestha has been severely challenged to fulfill all her duties as completely as she would like, despite help from her family, friends and a few supporters. The school is non-profit making and is social service oriented. This means that no tuition fees or any other charges are required from its students. The school is located at Manamaiju VDC, Kathmandu.
HECAC – Sponsor a child Project
HECAC has designed the Child Sponsor project with the vision and hope that small contributions of money and supplies can benefit and even change the lives of many poor and needy children and their communities. We believe that it will change lives of much poor family.
Soon in near future HECAC also plan to teach parents as well. We believe parents play a major role in their children’s education, as the children spend the majority of their time at home and only five to six hours a day in school if they attend the school. Therefore, HECAC aims to work with children as well as their parents, in an effort to increase the general populations’ confidence in the value of education, environment and culture.
Education is a light. It pulls the human being out of the darkness and pushes into the world of the happiness of life. Considering this, since its establishment of HECAC has been supporting the needy children of Nepal.
