The Jiri to Everest Base Camp trek is the most traditional trekking trail in the Everest region. Consequently, this is the same route that was used by the early expedition teams to climb Everest from Nepal: Sir Edmund Hilary from New Zealand and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa from Nepal, the first successful climbers of Mount Everest, went through this trail to climb Mount Everest.
The Jiri Everest Base Camp trek begins from Jiri after six hours of tranquility in the hills and a scenic drive from Kathmandu by private vehicle. Most of all, the Jiri Bazaar (1905 m) is more attractive, and many teahouses and shops provide good service for trekkers. Also, we recommend you visit the cheese factory project in Jiri.
The Jiri Everest Base Camp trek commences from Jiri, following the old renowned trail to Shivalaya. After a few minutes' walk, you will cross a stream on the trail up to the hill Bharkur. From Bharkur, the trail continues to ascend to the Patashe Danda (2400 m/7872 ft). While the trail continues to descend Yelung Khola and Dovan, you can view the Shivalaya hillside into the Khumti Jhola valley. The trail passes through the beautiful village of Bhandar, Set, Junbeshi, Nunthala, Bupsa, and Ghat. After you come to Ghat, you’ll follow the currently popular route from Lukla. Finally, you’ll visit delightful Sherpa villages, where you’ll meet the friendly people and soak up the colors, sights, and sounds of village life as well as the spirituality of Tibetan Buddhism so prevalent in the Himalayas.
The last destinations of the Jiri Everest Base Camp trek are Kala Patthar (5545 m/18187 ft) and Everest Base Camp. The period of the Classic Everest Trek is a little bit longer. In this trek, you will experience an unbeatable combination of natural beauty and cultural splendor. Furthermore, the prominent mountains to be sighted during trekking are Mt. Gaurishanker, Mt. Kwangde, Mt. Twache, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Amadablam, Mt. Thamserku, and Mt. Everest.
