The Gosaikunda trek is a significant trekking trail where you can get a panoramic view of Langtang Ganesh Himal and the Everest mountain range. The Gosaikunda Lake is an alpine freshwater lake, and the area has been described as a religious site. The lake is located at an altitude of 4360 m and is considered one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in Nepal. Thousands of pilgrims from Nepal and India visit Gosaikunda during the Gangadashahara and Janai Purnima festivals. Hence, Gosaikunda is not only for adventure seekers but also the religious significance in the Langtang region.
The Gosaikunda trek is held in the Langtang National Park, which is located north of Kathmandu. The trek starts with a scenic 7-8 hr drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche. Dhunche is the headquarters of the Rasuwa district and has an altitude of 2030 m. In this village, you will see lodges and facilities influenced by the Tamang cultures and lifestyles. During your first ascent of the Gosaikunda trek, you will pass through a lush green forest, a hanging bridge, and a pavement of stone-concrete until you reach the Sing Gompa (3250 m). There is an old cheese factory in Sing Gompa that sells the best yak cheese in Nepal. Most of the tourists visit this factory to learn about cheese production as well.
The Gosaikunda trek then continues to Gosaikunda with dynamic views of Langtang Lirung (7,227 m), the Ganesh Himal range (7,406 m), Himal Chuli (7,893 m), the Manaslu range (8,156 m), and Tibetan peaks. On clear days, you could also see Annapurna rising far behind the mountains. And finally, you will reach the Gosaikunda Lakes, which is the major destination of this trek. The shimmering lakes will melt your heart as a blessing of Lord Shiva. However, this lake is frozen in winter, so we suggest you not walk over the holy lake. And finally, you will descend
