Overview

 Overview

Journey Dragon Kingdom commence short scenic flight to Paro from Kathmandu with Druk Air. Get spectacular views of the world’s highest peaks. Give way to the lush green Paro valley as you land. Explore around Thimphu, the modern capital of Bhutan. You’re visiting the Institute of Traditional Medicine, where old healing arts such as acupuncture and herbal remedies are still practiced. The National Memorial Chorten, built in honor of late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. Punakha, an ancient capital of Bhutan. Get a great view of the Himalayan ranges, the peak of Chomolhari to the west, and then finally to Gangtey, which lies on the flanks of the Black Mountains. Visit the Drukgyal Dzong, the ruined fort, which once defended this valley from Tibetan invasions, and on your way back, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan (7th century). You will observe the National Museum. This dzong was converted into the National Museum in 1968.

Dragon Kingdom is a poetic way to refer to Bhutan. In the local language, Bhutan is called Druk Yul, which means Land of the Thunder Dragon. People link the name to loud storms that roll through the Himalayan valleys. They also point to the dragon, or druk, shown on the national flag.

This tour mixes daily life with natural scenery and spiritual places. You start in Paro, then move to Thimphu and Punakha. Along the way, you hike up to Tiger’s Nest. You also see dzongs and spend time near Dochula Pass for big mountain views.

The schedule is not rushed. You visit villages, try local food, and stay in comfortable hotels. Guides share stories about Buddhist beliefs and the past. As a result, the trip feels calm, real, and easy to remember.

Highlights

 Highlights

Tiger's Nest Monastery: Walk up to Paro Taktsang, a monastery built on a steep cliff. It sits about 900 meters above the valley.

Punakha Dzong: See Punakha Dzong, a fort-like building at the meeting of two rivers. It shows carved wood details, bright gold roofs, and old-style wall paintings.

Thimphu Culture: Spend time in Thimphu. Stop by the Memorial Chorten, browse the weekend market, and watch local craft work done the Bhutan way. This is a capital that does not rely on traffic lights.

Dochula Pass: Take a break at Dochula Pass. Here you can find 108 memorial stupas. On clear mornings, the mountain views look wide and sharp.

Bhutanese Cuisine: Try ema datshi, Bhutan’s spicy chili and cheese plate. It often comes with red rice. You may also get butter tea, served in simple farmhouse settings

Tshechu Festival: Attend a Tshechu. Watch masked cham dances and notice the bold brocade clothing. You will also see many families and visitors together in the monastery yard, as people honor Guru Rinpoche.
