Gangtey Trekking commence fly Kathmandu to Paro, enjoying magnificent views of the world’s highest peaks. Give way to the lush green Paro valley as you land. After lunch, you will visit Ta Dzong, an ancient watchtower that is now known as the National Museum. Explore around Thimphu and Bhutanese handicrafts. In Thimphu valley sightseeing, you will be able to get glimpses of Dechhenchholing Palace amid the forest of pine trees. Visit the Tango Monastery, which was founded in the 13th century, and today it houses around 150 monks who are mastering their Buddhist philosophy in meditation and higher studies. You will closely observe the ancient capital of Bhutan. Visit the historical place of Punakha Dzong, winter seat of the Je Khenpo and the Monk Body. The drive to Bumthang via Trongsa is about 7 hours, crossing over Pele La Pass (3300m) and Yotongla Pass (3400m). In Bumthang valley sightseeing, you will visit Tamshing Monastery (one of the oldest monastic schools built by Terton Pema Lingpa). Drive from Bumthang to Gangtey. Gangtey lies towards the east of Punakha and Wangdue on the flanks of the Black Mountains. Enjoy the moderate hike from Gangtey Valley to the Gogona Valley.
Put Gangtey Trekking and the Druk Path Trek into one trip. You will see both western and central Bhutan. You will trek from Paro to Thimphu over high ridges. Along the way, you can visit sacred lakes and old monasteries. After that, you head to the quiet Phobjikha Valley. There you will walk the Gangtey Nature Trail through pine forest. You may also spot black-necked cranes.
Gangtey Nature Trail: Take a calm loop walk through blue pine woods, open meadows, and small quiet hamlets. You will also see wide views over the Phobjikha Valley.
Gangtey Monastery: Go to the 1600s Gangtey Goenpa. It is the top Nyingma monastery in the area. Walk through the grounds and feel the calm mood, the buildings, and the day-to-day monastic ways.
Black-Necked Cranes: Between late October and February, rare black-necked cranes come in from Tibet. They stay for winter in the protected wetlands of the valley.
Glacial Valley Scenery: Look out over broad U-shaped glacial valleys. Golden fields, low dwarf bamboo, and rolling hills make strong scenes for photos all year.
Village Culture: Spend time with local farmers. Visit old-style Bhutanese farmhouses. Learn what daily rural life looks like, including potato growing, and enjoy the warm welcome people give visitors.
Easy for Everyone: This is a short and gentle trek for beginners and families. You do not need any special climbing skills. It also blends well with many Bhutan cultural plans.
